deadline for inspire award nominations is january 27- nominate a mentor today!

January 19, 2012 | Indianapolis

January 27 is the deadline for nominating individuals in the workplace and community that have gone above and beyond to help others and inspire excellence. The Inspire Awards (www.collegementors.org/inspire) will honor these individuals during a luncheon at the Indiana Roof Ball in Indianapolis on Wednesday, February 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Emily Meyer, director of programming at College Mentors for Kids, is excited to be able to honor the professional and community-based mentors in the Midwest through the Inspire Awards.

“The mentors in my life have definitely helped lay the path for my personal achievements and successes,” Meyer said. “When I talk to my friends and colleagues, we all have stories about that one huge conversation or that major piece of advice a mentor gave us that shaped our careers. The Inspire Awards are for those people, because they deserve to be recognized for the impact they make on a daily basis.”

Nominees come from all walks of life and work in every industry. Some mentor through their workplace or in their industry while others choose to dedicate their time out of the office towards helping others.

College Mentors for Kids is currently seeking nominations for mentors in: accounting, legal and finance; technology, engineering and manufacturing; business, retail and services; marketing, media and athletics; health and health sciences; education and nonprofit; and will give a youth mentoring award.

Laura Feldman Mishkin, senior associate development director at College Mentors, said mentors can be nominated through an online nominations process.

“Our online submission makes honoring someone who inspired you fast and easy,” Mishkin said. “It only takes about five minutes! Just visit www.collegementors.org/inspire to nominate your mentor.”

Selection committees comprised of nearly 50 community leaders select each category’s winner. The committees are chaired by: Randy Reichmann, Old National Bank; Nancy McLaughlin, Starbucks; Tim Hobbs, Community Health Network; Bill Stanczykiewicz, Indiana Youth Insitute; Skeets James, eGov Strategies; Tom Zupancic; and David Dresslar, Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis.

Mentoring is a simple yet transformative act that can be defined in many different ways. The Inspire Awards let you define mentoring, and recognize those that selflessly give of their time and expertise. Recognize a mentor today!
