College Mentors' Search for VP of Development Comes to an End

Robert Laux joined the College Mentors for Kids, Inc. staff on July 14, 2008 as the new vice president of development. Laux’s seven years of experience in the fundraising realm made him an ideal candidate for the position.

Prior to his professional experience, Laux attended the University of Houston to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.  He continued on to Western Illinois University where he earned his master’s degree in College Student Personnel. His prior work experience includes: University of South Carolina as Coordinator for Student Programs; University of Notre Dame as Program Coordinator; White Art Printing as an Account Representative of Sales; United Way of Central Indiana as Vice President for Strategic Giving.

Laux is experienced in fundraising, execution and strategic planning, and all areas of fundraising, including: direct mail, leadership giving societies, major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships and foundation grants.

As vice president of development, Laux is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and oversight of all resource development activities to meet a $1.2 million budget. This includes managing the development team, increasing our individual donor base, and building a cash reserve.

“I joined the College Mentors staff because of its mission of mentoring youth and developing college student leaders. I’m excited to utilize my fundraising skills to make an impact in this dynamic, growing organization,” said Laux.
